A little bit of latex

So I have felt pretty ill over the past few days. *sob*. However, I might use this evening to try and get some work done on python (it is a computer coding language) and work out the knitting pattern for the jumper I want to make so I can try and start that soon as I have realised I have enough yarn to fill a suitcase. Oops!

I am a big lover of fashion and clothing. Which I will start to post more of, like outfits and stuff on here once I feel better and my room is tidy. (Mid-way through packing for a weekend at home next weekend). But one particular area of fashion that appeals is Latex clothing!
Latex is a rubber that was traditionally used for wellington boots, however nowadays it is commonly found in fetish fashion.
Here are some pretty pieces:
Naucler Design's Alice Mini Dress (here)
Artifice Clothing's Accent Straitjacket (here)
OohLaLatex's Basque (here)
BlackSheepLatex's Striped High Waist Hotpants & Halterneck Bra, (bottoms) & (top)
If you know much about latex, you will notice that the premade stuff isn't exactly cheap. A relatively basic pair of hotpants will generally cost you about £20-£50 depending on the company. These are prices that, right now, I cannot justify paying. So over the past few days I have been thinking about making my own latex pieces.

I have done a bit of research by watching and reading some of the tutorials out there. And honestly, there are really not that many out there. At least to my current knowledge. I imagine the further you delve into the fetish community the easier it will be to find out how to make latex garments. But since latex is meant to be skin tight you own measurements are your friend! And one of the only things you need assuming you have a basic idea of the shape of what you are making.... Though I might find it a lot more difficult once I manage to get started.

So! How do you get started?!

I will post the links that I use to get all my supplies once that happens, which will probably be June time. But I think the best thing to do is kinda get a look at latex by ordering a swatch set. And here are two companies that I have found that do them. They both stock latex too and I think glues and such. But I will come back to that at a later date.

Radical Rubber
This swatch contains their most popular colours only, from what I can tell and is £10 for people of the EU, £15 for the rest of the world. And this apparently included postage.
One thing I will say not about these guys. If you want to order latex from them it is cheapest to order 5m of each type you are buying, otherwise you get a 50% surcharge. Yes, you heard me correctly 50%.

Supatex
They have two types of swatches available. Colours & thickness. The colour set costs £8 for us British folk, and it gets more expensive the further from the UK you are. And I believe the thickness set is free.
Supatex... Just so you know, they have a minimum order value of £100, excluding postage. Moreover, you can only purchase increments of 5m. Probably best if you intend to make a lot of stuff.

This is all I can really say right now about latex! Well without rambling about how pretty it is. So I will share knowledge as I learn it. Here's to hoping the first package won't cost too much just to get started.
